Healthy Chocolate and Antioxidants


Antioxidants are vitamins and minerals which help your body fix cells that get destroyed by free radicals. Too much damage can cause serious illnesses like arthritis and cancer. If you collect too many free radicals you’ll also hurt your immune system.

If you want to keep your immune system strong, helping you to avoid colds and flu’s, as well as more serious illnesses, you need to focus on your diet. You need to eat foods that are high in antioxidants.

Raw fruits and vegetables are very good for your body. Eat as much of these as you can! Your health will likely improve. Keep in mind that when you cook a vegetable, the nutritional value decreases. It is better to pluck it from the stem or vine, or your grocer’s produce aisle.

As a general rule you want to load up on the colorful fruits and vegetables. They have a lot of vitamin C, vitamin E and beta-carotene. Some examples of fruits and vegetables that are high in antioxidants are:

  • Blueberries
  • Beans
  • Artichokes
  • Cranberries
  • Russet potatoes

    Green tea also has a lot of antioxidants and overall a lower caffeine content than regular coffee.
